Mountain Sunrise Academy (MSA) is a 36,000-square-foot public charter school in Saratoga Springs, Utah, serving grades K-8. Opened in fall 2020, the school follows the Waldorf education model, inspired by Dr. Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy. This holistic approach integrates intellectual, artistic, and practical skills, shaping the school’s architecture and interior design into an extension of the curriculum.
MSA’s design embodies Waldorf principles. Colors, textures, and materials reflect harmony and warmth, while natural light highlights the surrounding mountains and rising sun, fostering a connection to nature. Outdoor gardens and gathering areas encourage hands-on learning and exploration.
The interiors were designed to feel like home, prioritizing comfort and creativity over institutional rigidity. This collaborative vision created a purposeful environment aligned with Waldorf's values and the school’s mission.
