Franklin Discovery Academy

The Franklin Discovery Academy, completed in fall 2016, is a two-story, 45,000-square-foot charter school serving grades K-6. At the core of FDA’s curriculum is a visionary belief in every child's boundless potential to learn. The school employs a mastery-based STEM curriculum in a blended learning environment, fostering a lifelong sense of curiosity and discovery. Its innovative approach extends to individualized learning hours, allowing students to thrive within the school’s mission to Create, Learn, Play, and Inspire.

Architecturally, the building’s restrained exterior uses stucco and masonry with subtle touches of color, while the interior contrasts with a bright and dynamic atmosphere. Spacious classrooms and open STEM learning areas provide flexible education opportunities, while interior play zones, including a slide, encourage physical activity and engagement.

Since completing the original building, Babcock Design has maintained a collaborative partnership with Franklin Discovery Academy, supporting their growth with two classroom additions and designing a new Early Learning Center. This companion facility focuses on preschool and kindergarten students, enhancing the academy’s educational reach.
