Mountain Sunrise Academy

The Mountain Sunrise Academy (MSA) is a 2-story, 36,000-square-foot public charter school in Saratoga Springs, UT, that opened in the fall of 2020. The school provides education to kindergarten through 8th-grade students and follows the Waldorf education model. This pedagogy is based on the educational philosophy of founder Dr. Rudolf Steiner and aims to develop students' intellectual, artistic, and practical skills in an integrated and holistic manner.

The Waldorf education approach inspired the school’s architecture and interior design decisions. The color, texture, and materials were carefully selected to align with Waldorf principles. Lighting and views were considered to highlight the neighboring mountains and capture warm sunlight from the rising sun. The school also features outdoor gardens and gathering spaces to engage students practically and educationally.

The interior spaces of the school were designed to create a homely and comfortable atmosphere rather than that of an institution. The thoughtfully crafted building is a true reflection of the school's vision and ideals, providing a unique educational experience for all students.
